A small town with a rich history!
It is possible to cruise across the
Columbia Plateau in half a day, but the scenery
and history deserve more. Beyond the fertile farming valleys, interstate
90 runs through endless wheat fields to bypass the heart of Washington
on its way to Ritzville.
Settled in the 1880s, Ritzville is a community
with a rich pioneer heritage. In the early days, Ritzville bustled with
industry, and soon became the largest inland exporter of wheat in the
world. It was a time of prosperity when many fine homes and much of the
business district were created. With the passing of tim e, the flavor of
the community survived, and much of its original character is still
intact. Today, past blends with present to create Ritzville's unique
atmosphere. Formerly busy st reets
are still lined with graceful brick commercial buildings and gracious
homes. Music and activities of annual festivals echo off the walls of
19th century brick buildings. So come experience the recreation,
history, and farming heritage that is still alive today. |
